Warners lash out at lavalava jibe

A guerrilla marketing campaign for a new Maori television show has upset one of the world’s biggest media companies.
Warner Bros has slapped a cease and desist order on the channel because it says the Lover Boy vs Lavalava Boy billboard for a new show Game of Bros is too close to its pitch for The Bachelor.
Game of Bros features 12 Polynesian men who compete in traditional games to earn the title of ultimate warrior.
Head of content Mike Rehu says Maori TV doesn’t have the marketing budget of other networks so its has to be creative to reach audiences.
He says the Lavalava boy campaign was a bit of harmless fun.
