Brash claims double standard over dildo attack
Former National Party leader Don Brash is accusing police of going soft on a nurse who threw a rubber sex toy at Government minister Steven Joyce because she was Maori and a woman.
Josie Butler was not charged after she threw the dildo at Mr Joyce on Waitangi Day to protest the signing of the Trans Pacific Partnership.
Dr Brash says it was inappropriate that the man who threw mud at minister Gerry Brownlee in Christchurch this week was charged but Ms Butler wasn't.
Dr Brash was splattered with mud when he visited Waitangi in 1984, just weeks after his Orewa speech grabbed him attention with his claims Labour was implementing race-based policies and pandering to Maori privilege.
