Waikato bus service to boost university access
The University of Waikato has teamed up with Ngati Raukawa and other south Waikato community and business organisations to make tertiary study more accessible for students from the region.
The Pathways to Excellence: Te Ara ki Angitu programme gives prospective students direct bus transport from Tokoroa and Putaruru to the university in Hamilton, access to learning devices, learning hubs established in partnering schools, support and mentoring, and chances for fees scholarships.
Vice-chancellor Professor Neil Quigley says the university and the region's high schools and wharekura want university to be a realistic and viable option for students who have the potential and the aspiration to attend.
