Aotearoa Fisheries ups Sealord board presence
Aotearoa Fisheries has moved to tighten its control of its troubled largest asset.
Chair Whaimutu Dewes and director Craig Ellison will go on the board, replacing Keith Sutton and Bob Major.
Another of its directors, Tony Hannon, is already on the board.
Sealord chair Matanuku Mahuika will remain on the Board until November.
Mr Dewes says the move is in line with the resoultions of a review of Maori fisheries settlement structures, where iwi wanted a Sealord directors to come from the Aotearoa Fisheries' board.
Aotearoa Fisheries owns 50 percent of Sealord on behalf of all Maori, and as such appoints half of its directors.
The company has struggled in recent years, and last year it made just $10 million on revenue of $421 million.
