Beautiful Hesitation for Auckland showing
Auckland Art Gallery is to show a comprehensive survey of the work of photographer Fiona Pardington, who is of Kai Tahu, Kati Mamoe, Kahungunu and Scottish descent.
A Beautiful Hesitation has already been shown to acclaim at the Wellington City Gallery and will go on to the Christchurch City Art Gallery.
Auckland director Rhana Devenport says it will give visitors a deep insight into Pardington’s arresting photography.
The more than 100 photographs span 30 years, including intimate family portraits, photographs of hei tiki pendants, life casts and historical specimens from museum collections, and her still-life images of salvaged and collected objects.
Fiona Pardington: A Beautiful Hesitation opens on March 5 is association with Auckland Arts Festival.
