Comic wrestling on summer agenda
Wrestling with what to do with the kids over the summer holidays.
Communities around the motu are putting together their summer programmes, and Glen Innes has a whole new space to play in.
Te Oro centre for music are arts opened in May, and coordinator Jenni Heka says the summer programme starting mid-January should be finalised this week.
As a taster there’s a gift making workshop this Saturday, an art show of work from surrounding schools, and opportunities to make music, learn various dance forms and pick up the basics of clowning, juggling and magic.
There will also be a wrestling workshop in early February run by comic artist and wrestler Michel Mulipola.
"Michel is one of those artists who is wonderful when he comes in and he talks about the characters and how the clothes make it. He says he's not so much about the physical, he's a very good character, he plays the villain when he wrestles, so we are very excited to be able to bring him in," Ms Heka says.
