November 20 start for flag poll
A date has been set for the first flag referendum, giving New Zealanders just three weeks to make sure they are correctly enrolled and ready to vote in the first referendum.
Voting papers will be sent out on Friday 20 November to everyone who is on the roll at that time.
Chief electoral officer Robert Peden says if people have moved house or are unsure if they are signed up, they can check at elections.org.nz or by calling 0800 36 76 56.
You can also get enrolment forms at any PostShop or by freetexting your name and address to 3676.
The postal referendum from November 20 until Friday 11 December will give voters a chance to say which of the five alternate flag designs they prefer.
The most preferred alternative will go to a second referendum in March 2016, where voters will be asked to choose between it and the current flag.
