Labour’s broadcasting spokesperson says the only reason Maori Television considered moving to Rotorua was so Maori Development Minister Te Ururoa Flavell could say he was bringing jobs to his electorate.

Clare Curran says the channel’s decision to stay in Auckland is a victory for common sense, but the scoping exercise was a waste of time and money.

The MTS board is now trying to decide on a new site in Auckland once the lease on its expensive Newmarket headquarters expires.
