Charles and Camilla to visit Maori king

A right royal visit is in the offing.
The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall are to meet King Tuheitia at Turangawaewae Marae during their week long visit to Aotearoa in November to Aotearoa.
It will be Prince Charles’ second visit to the home of the Kingitanga, but the first for his wife Camilla.
When he visited Ngaruawahia in 1994 he wore a kiwi korowai presented to his father Prince Philip in 1953.
The king’s principal private secretary, Rangi Whakaruru, says rather than the drop in and handshake proposed for last year’s visit by Prince William and Princess Catherine, the royal gathering will be for a few hours.
As well as photo opportunities and handshakes at the marae, there will be an afternoon tea with iwi leaders, local and national identities in business, politics, health and arts, and top rangatahi from surrounding high schools.
