Maori & Mercedes wins tourism award

Auckland’s Time Unlimited Tours, which offers tourists the chance to explore Auckland through Maori eyes while travelling in a luxury Mercedes, has won the Maori Cultural Tourism Award at this year’s Tourism Industry Association awards.
The supreme award went to luge, restaurant and gondola operator Skyline Rotorua.
Film magnate Sir Peter Jackson won the top individual award for being what judges called Destination New Zealand’s number one marketer.
They cited his involvement in making Hobbiton near Matamata a world class attraction as well as his contributions to the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre, where his planes and artefacts are on display at the Great War Exhibition in Wellington and his work with the National Army Museum.
