Pacific Underground brings Matariki story to Tamaki

A theatrical extravaganza looking at the way Matariki has come to be celebrated across the land opens at the new Te Oro music and theatre facility in Glen Innes this evening.
Rangi and Mau’s Amazing Race is put on by Pacific Underground, a collective that started in Christchurch in 1991 to bring the stories of New Zealand’s Pacific Island peoples to a wider audience.
Manager Tanya Muagututi'a says the play was a way to discover more about Matariki and the connections between Maori and Pacific cultures and put it on stage in a fun way.
Rangi and Mau’s Amazing Race runs until July 15
