Taranaki iwi have stepped up to sponsor the Taranaki Regional Council’s annual Environmental Awards.
Ngaruahine, Ngati Ruanui, Te Atiawa, Taranaki and Ngati Mutunga will sponsor the environmental leadership in business – Te taiao me te pakihi category.
Fonterra will sponsor the environmental leadership in dairy farming, Dow AgroSciences has its name on land management, Methanex has stumped up for the environmental action in the community category and Taranaki Daily News has the education award.
Council chair David MacLeod says the involvement of iwi will deepen the significance and impact of the awards, which are in their 22nd year.
