Chiefs forsakenfor sevens bid

Sports commentator Wairangi Koopu is picking Liam Messam and Sonny Bill Williams to have the fortitude to get into the sevens team for the Rio Olympics.
Messam has indicated he will stand down from the Chiefs next year to focus on the fast-paced version of the game.
He already has gold medals from the 2006 and 2010 Commonwealth Games, and captained the New Zealand team that won the IRB World Series title in 2004.
The code-hopping Williams looks set to join him.
Koopu says they’re both known for their competitiveness.
"If they want it bad enough they will get there. I am fairly confident those boys will work themselves hard enough to earn a spot," he says.
Koopu says it’s not the games that will test the pair but the sevens’ rigorous training regime.
