Leahy to head SI whanau ora
The South Island whanau ora commissioning agency Te Putahitanga o Te Waipounamu has called in former Maori Party chief of staff Helen Leahy to fill in as its chief executive until a permanent appointment can be made.
Ms Leahy was senior ministerial advisor to former Whanau Ora Minister Tariana Turia when the policy was being formulated.
She is a member of the panel looking at overhauling Child Youth and Family.
Most recently she has been a specialist advisor on strategy and influence at Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu.
She says she will be driven by the goal of improving the health and wellbeing of whanau, hapu and iwi by meeting the holistic needs of whanau as they determine for themselves.
