Waipareira seeks to grow business in US
Te Whanau o Waipareira's IT arm Whanau Tahi will spearhead a high level Maori business delegation to the United States next week.
The trip supported by the government science development arm Callaghan Innovation is weighted towards Maori health and social services providerrs.
The 20-strong delegation includes Waipareira chief executive John Tamihere, Whanau Tahi director Stephen Keung, Merepeka Raukawa-Tait from the North island Whanau Ora commissioning agency Te Pou Matakana Chair, Kaitaia GP Dr Lance O’Sullivan and Lady Tureiti Moxon.
As well as making a presentation at the Self-Governance Tribal Annual Consultation Conference in Reno, Nevada, delegates will attend a briefing from Microsoft executives in Redmond, Washington.
Whanau Tahi's Navigator software for managing Whanau Ora and other health and social services programmes is built with Microsoft technology.
Mr Keung says Whanau Tahi is keen to identify and advance commercial opportunities for Maori businesses, as well as learn about the latest developments in health IT that it can use when it is developing tools for Maori health and social service providers.
