Delayed start to Ngapuhi negotiations


The chair of Tuhoronuku says it’s well past the time to start negotiations on Northland claims.
After six years of consultation and securing the mandate the Ngapuhi claim settlement body has appointed its first three negotiators.
Sonny Tau says Joe Davis, Alison Thom and Hemi Toia have their work cut out for them.
Sonny Tau says the negotiation process won’t get all of Ngapuhi’s land back but it should get some redress at a cultural level and to provide an economic base for the iwi.
