New Zealand First MP Pita Paraone wants to see the data on whether rangatahi courts are effective in cutting crime.

Since their inception 1100 Maori youth have been through the courts, which now operate on 13 marae.

Mr Paraone says it sounds like a great idea, but it’s hard to measure success without data.

Pita Paraone says if the courts don’t reduce reoffending, the money should be allocated elsewhere.
