Manurewa MP Louisa Wall wants the Pasifika Festival to stay permanently in south Auckland.
The festival was moved to Manukau at short notice because its long term home at Western Springs was in the Queensland fruit fly exclusion zone.
Ms Wall says it felt that Pasifika had come home,
" I'm expecting the numbers to be a bit lower because obviously having it move in such a short time frame, possibly has affected attendance. I know we usually get 50,000 people at the event but it did feel like it was high and it was a beautiful celebration of our languages and our culture " she says.
