Bree a charm in front of camera
MP Winston Peters’ daughter Bree has shown the New Zealand First leader is not the only one in the family who can charm the cameras.
She won the best actress award at this year’s Tropfest short film festival, as well as the Nga Aho Wahakaari-sponsored award for outstanding Maori creativity.
Her film Every Moment won the top prize which includes a five-day film immersion course in Los Angeles for director for Gabriel Reid.
Producer Maile Daugherty said the inspiration for the 7-minute short came from her mother who had the idea of using the wire of a champagne cork as a wedding ring.
Nga Aho Wahakaari chair Whetu Fala says the number of Maori entries this year increased by more than 200 percent.
She says it’s a great festival for Maori filmmakers to try out their ideas in front of the largest short film audience in Aotearoa.
More than 9000 people packed into New Plymouth’s Bowl of Brooklands for the screening.
