Smooth AGM for Waipareira


If it ain't broke was the theme of Te Whanau o Waipareira's annual general meeting at Hoani Waititi Marae yesterday.
The three trustees whose terms had expired – chair Raymond Hall, Moyna Grace and Clint Rickards – were relected unopposed.
Spokesperson Joe Lose says the trust is now one of largest employers in west Auckland with about 200 staff as well as volunteers and a 70-strong kaumatua roopu.
He says the AGM voted for a rule change to stop people fronting up at the meeting an putting their name up to govern the multi-million dollar organisation.
From next year candidates wiil have to give 14 days noitice and attach cvs so peole who come to vote can see who they are.
"Obviously we've got to protect the organisation so we need to know who is intending to stand and what their credentials are," Mr Lose says.
Waipareira holds its annual sports day on Saturday at the Waitemata Rugby Club in Henderson, with a Super 10s sports challenge, food stalls, rides and entertainment including Aammie J and Swiss, and Abbie and Thomas Rose.
