Bids open for Maori programmes
Independent production houses have just over a week to get in their bids to take over the making of programmes like Marae Investigates and Waka Huia.
Television New Zealand today requested proposals for outsourced production of its stable of Maori and Pacific programmes.
Production of Te karere news remains in-house.
The move was announced a month ago and sparked concern that it would mean Maori would have even less influence on the state broadcaster than they do now.
Bids must be in by November 28, and these will be considered by TVNZ in consultation with the funders in the coming weeks.
