Former Te Puni Kokiri chief executive Leith Comer has been appointed the new chair of Te Mana o Ngati Rangitihi Trust.

Kenneth Raureti was elected his deputy.

It indicates a fresh start for the eastern Bay of Plenty iwi, whose members voted out founding chair Graham Pryor in the recent election.

The trust, which is the post settlement governance entity for Ngati Rangitihi’s share of the Central North Island Iwi Collective Forestry settlement, now wants to negotiate a comprehensive settlement of all Ngati Rangitihi historical claims.
