Good values earn grand final spot
It’s the NRL grand final in Sydney on Sunday night, and expect a couple of Maori players to make an impact for the Canterbury Bulldogs against the Rabbitohs.
Fullback Sam Perrett and lock Greg Eastwood have both shone under coach Des Hasler, and both started playing on this side of the Tasman.
Commentator Rusty Matua remembers coaching Eastwood before his family moved to Brisbane when he was 15, and says there’s something special about players who came through the junior grades in Manurewa.
"If we’re looking at the likes of jessie Bromich and (unclear) and Peter Hiku as well and the feedback on those boys was their simple values in their approach to their training was evident from the start. All coaches love that real determination and they're consistent, they do the simple things really well, they really listen and try to incorproate the coach's instructions into their game and that's what the coaches love about these guys. They really listen," he says.
Rusty Maatua says the South Sydney Rabbitohs will really miss the impact of Isaac Luke, who was suspended for a lifting tackle on Sonny Bill Williams last Friday.
