FOMA members prepare wish list
Representatives of Maori land trusts and businesses are gathering in Whanganui for the three-day conference of the Federation of Maori Authorities.
Chair Traci Houpapa says members will have their wish lists for the new Government.
FOMA wants to be part of any discussion about management of natural resources including water, the review of Maori land law, and optimisation of Maori land assets.
It also wants to see the Government taking account of Maori economic entities and how they can contribute to the political, cultural, commercial and social life of the country.
Ms Houpapa says the hui will celebrate women who lead Maori business and iwi organisations, and a special presentation will be made to the outgoing local MP, Maori Party co-leader Tariana Turia.
