Koopu gets out vote for Mana
League legend Wairangi Koopu is looking forward to his new role as a Mana Party ambassador.
Koopu says his role is to encourage people to engage with politics by enrolling to vote and turning out at the polls on September 20.
He has no ambition right now to stand for parliament himself, but he supports Mana’s policies and leader Hone Harawira's blunt style.
"I can relate it to the rugby league sense like a manager or agent where if the clubs didn't like him it meant he was doing his job properly becase he was looking out for the players. That's how I think of Hone. He's sort of the agent for our people. The governing body doesn't necessarliy like it because he makes so much noise, but he has got the best interests of our people in mind," he says.
