Better communication can stop bullying
The Foundation for Youth Development is launching a new campaign to Turn Bullies Into Friends.
Campaign ambassador Bernice Mene says 45,000 children report being bullied each year.
The foundation is seeking funds so it can put its Kiwi Can programme into more primary and intermediate schools.
It teaches kids how to improve their communication skills, and how to work with each other better to build strong relationships and understanding.
Ange Wihapi, the principal of Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Te Matai in Te Puke, says Kiwi Can has almost eliminated bullying from her school.
