Leadership track for boarding school scholars
The first 90 recipients of a new scholarship for students attending the six Maori boarding schools will be at parliament today for the inaugural Puawaitanga Leadership Conference.
Associate Education Minister Pita Sharples says the Puawaitanga scholarships are about recognising and fostering leadership for the future.
The students will hear from today’s leaders including New Zealander of the Year and Hato Petera old boy Dr Lance O’Sullivan; Silver Ferns coach Waimarama Taumaunu, and Ngai Tahu chair Sir Mark Solomon.
Dr Sharples says the forum will be an annual event.
