Harawira wants run at new voters
Mana leader Hone Harawira says new voters are the target of the Internet Mana Alliance.
He says while he didn’t know Laila Harre well before she was named leader of the Internet Party, she has political credibility.
Her history as a strong and credible voice for workers, women, children and issues of social justice adds huge weight to the opposition.
Mr Harawira says he’s disappointed at Labour’s negative reaction to the alliance.
"If only Labour could get their act together and let Internet Mana focus on grabbing all of the new voters and saying to the Greens ‘you guys go and get all of the people who have ever voted for you and get them to vote for you again, leave us to go out and get a whole lot of new voters, and between us we can change this government,’" he says.
Hone Harawira says the Internet Mana alliance was an intelligent strategic move that should ensure a strong voice for Maori in the next parliament, and it is completely within the rules.
