Disability roopu under fire
New Zealand First leader Winston Peters wants the Auditor-General to investigate New Zealand’s largest provider of kaupapa Maori services to intellectually disabled people.
Former staff have alleged financial mismanagement at Te Roopu Taurima O Manukau, including under the table payments for contracts.
Mr Peters says there has clearly been an accounting and auditing failure at the trust.
He says the Ministry of Health has conducted a superficial review, and it’s time for an in-depth investigation.
