Greens choose Marama Davidson for Tamaki Makaurau
The Greens have chosen Marama Davidson as their candidate to contest the Tamaki Makaurau electorate at the general election
The educator, writer, and mother of six says she will be particularly campaigning for the party vote which will be her means of getting into parliament as part of the Greens Party list.
She says housing will be a major election issue in the Tamak makaurau electorate with housing gains achieved in Auckland setting the stage for housing devcelopments around the country..
" We can not deny that the impacts for example that the housing crisis has on our whanau and tamariki are very real and they are important for us to start addressing. If we can turn that around in Tamaki Makaurau if we can intervene on the housing market as its going at the moment in Auckland then that is going to actually spill out to alot of the country
Marama Davidson is the daughter of actor Rawiri Paratene who presented the petition to parliament in 1967 which led to major changes in the teaching and adoption of Te reo Maori in New Zealand.
She says the current generation owes a huge amount to her fathers generation who were active as teenagers on a range of Maori issues.
