Tui Ora goes smoke free
Taranaki Maori health and social services provider Tui Ora wants to make all its premises smoke free by World Smokefree Day on May 31.
Chief executive Hayden Wano says it will ask all staff, patients and visitors to stub out cigarettes and not smoke anywhere in its grounds or buildings.
There will no longer be designated smoking areas, and the policy will apply to vehicles owned or leased by the organisation.
Mr Wano says as a health care industry leader in Taranaki Tui Ora has a duty to provide a safe and healthy environment.
It’s offering support to existing smokers including both staff and clients in the weeks leading up to May 31.
