Mana members look at Dotcom link

Mana members have agreed to continue talks with Kim Dotcom’s Internet Party about a possible alliance going into the election.
The German internet entrepreneur addressed the party’s annual meeting in Rotorua on Saturday about the advantages of teaming up to get list candidates into parliament on the back of Mana leader Hone Harawira retaining his Te Tai Tokerau seat.
Mana president Annette Sykes says branches unanimously agreed to step up the discussions to develop a proposal that can be brought back for consideration.
She says Mana members want to know more about the Internet Party’s policies beyond cheaper broadband and stopping United States spy agencies from accessing New Zealanders’ private electronic data.
"That was a gap identified. For consistency or otherwise their policies are difficult to measure against our founding principles in that vacuum, so that is one of the key issues they also need to clarify," Ms Sykes says.
