Maori placed on Green list
The Green Party could lose a couple of its Maori MPs if it doesn’t maintain its vote in September’s election.
The party has released the initial draft of its party list, including four Maori and nine women in the first 15.
Co-leader Metiria Turei is ranked at number one.
But the other Maori, MPs Dave Clendon and Denese Roche and last year’s Ikaroa Rawhiti by-election candidate Marama Dadvidson, are ranked at 12, 13 and 15 respectively.
Jack McDonald, who is contesting Te Tai Hauauru, is at 19.
The list, which came out of the party’s February candidate conference, will now be voted on by party members nation-wide using a single transferable voting system, with the final rankings out in May.
