Wahine share business tips
Many of the women running Maori iwi, trusts, incorporations, businesses and services providers are in Wellington today for the second Huihuinga Wahine Maori women’s leadership summit.
It’s organised by the Federation of Maori Authorities, whose chair, Traci Houpapa, says participants have been encouraged to bring along young Maori women to gain an insight into the skills and experience needed to be a business leader.
"Huihuinga Wahine is very much about celebrating leadership for Maori economic development, with a focus specifically on growing and building the leadership capabilities and business capabilities of our Maori women, so Huihuinga Wahine is a good time for our Maori women to come together, to hear from political, economic and commercial leaders. Also thinking too mostly and foremost in our mind about what is good for our whanau, for our hapu and for our iwi," Ms Houpapa says.
