Charity a gift for Mahuta fitness
Nanaia Mahuta is crediting charity work with a boost in her health.
The Hauraki Waikato MP became the patron of the Chump Change charity after the death of colleague Parekura Horomia.
She says the health and fitness aspect of the charity’s challenges appealed, and this week the money raised this year will be given to the Child Cancer Foundation.
"I was asked by the founder of Chump Change, Mere Takoko, to be the patron and I said 'yes, but I'll probably have to get involved,' so she's had me on 24 weeks of a health regime, I've probably dropped around 16 to 18 kilos and I feel healthier for it and we fundraisd some money for the Child Cancer Foundation, a really worthy cause who receives no governemnt funding, and we are looking forward to giving to that foundation a bit of putea," Ms Mahuta says.
