A mid-Canterbury preschool teacher hopes winning a scholarship can help her publish children’s books in te reo Maori.
Kayla Anderson wrote a book two years ago about a young kiwi searching for his mother, and has been using it with her classes.
She says she saw a void in the market for quality Maori resources for young children.
Ms Anderson shared the $10,000 Rothbury Risk AMP regional scholarship with mezzo soprano Amy Jansen, a student at Canterbury University.
