Mana motuhake vision for iwi

The new Chief Executive of Te Rūnanga ō Ngāti Porou says the biggest challenge is going to be doing everything the tribe wants within the budget of whatever can be earned from its settlement assets.
Teepa Wawatai project managed the East coast tribe’s treaty settlement negotiations, so he has a clear idea of what is available.
The former Te Puni Kokiri deputy chief executive says he’s looking forward to the challenge.
"Our vision is probably no different to the vision for most iwi if not all iwi – mana motuhake mā ngā uri whakatipu – being in charge of our own destiny and making decisions over our future with a sense of being fully capable, confident, strong, purposeful, and fruitful," Mr Wawatai says.
