Ngāti Pahauwera open for business
Northern Hawkes Bay iwi Ngāti Pahauwera has hired one of Māoridom’s most experienced managers to run its post-settlement entity.
Wayne Johnson has worked for Whanganui River Māori Trust Board, Te Rūnanga ō Te Awa Tupua ō Whanganui, Ratana and other iwi organisations.
Ngāti Pahauwera Development Trust chair Toro Waaka says Mr Johnson has already secured more suitable premises in Wairoa to indicate that the iwi is open for business.
With a background in law and business as well as his work for Māori organisations, he has a good understanding of the systems and the means to deliver responsive services to Ngāti Pahauwera’s 8000 registered beneficiaries.
He will be introduced to the iwi at an information-sharing hui on Sunday.
