Peters slammed for weak response to Wogistan rant
New Zealand First leader Winston Peters is in the gun for a racist rant by one of his MPs.
A column by Richard Prosser in Investigate magazine has sparked global attention with his call for Western Airlines to ban all young Muslim men or men who look like Muslims from flying.
Mr Peters defended his MP’s concerns about terrorism, but says he could have been more balanced.
Greens co-leader Metiria Turei says that‘s not good enough, and Mr Prosser’s anti-Muslim views were known before Mr Peters put him on his party list.
“This utter racist dribble. It was in a investigate magazine who I think wrote an article. It was a deliberate intension on his part to get racism out in public view. This is a guy who is representing New Zealand on a national stage. Winston needs to take more responsibility for the huge mistake for putting him in parliament”.
Metiria Turei says Winston Peters’ return to parliament looks blighted, as he has already kicked MP Brendan Horan out of his caucus.
