Harawira says it’s time to look ahead
Ngapuhi kuia Titewhai Harawira is ignoring attempts to limit her role in this week’s Waitangi commemorations.
Te Tii Marae elder Kingi Taurua wants another woman to escort Prime Minister John Key onto the Marae.
Veteran activist Titewhai Harawira created the role of escorting Prime Ministers onto the marae. She says marae trustees have turned it into a sideshow
“And I’m not really interested. I’ve come up for Waitangi and everybody is excited about 2013 and what does it hold for Māori. The place is a buzz, hoping that the National Party comes up with something positive”. says Titewhai.
Titewhai Harawira says a highlight will be the launch of a new national movement to address violence.
