Government holding back Whānau Ora – Mana

Mana leader Hone Harawira wants to see Whānau Ora unleashed.
Whānau ora providers met in Wellington last week to discuss how the new model for integrated delivery of government services was evolving, and where to take it over the next few years.
Mr Harawira says the Māori Party’s flagship policy isn’t getting the budget or the commitment from mainstream agencies that it deserves.
“By the time you are able to touch every whānau in a positive way and bring our whānau up to level, I think our mokopuna will be in power. If we want qualitative change, if we want quantitative change, it’s got to be bigger, it’s got to be bolder, it’s got to be more expressive and I can’t see National backing them on it,” Mr Harawira says.
