Māori Affairs committee learns from Aboriginals
Members of the Māori Affairs Select Committee are heading back from Alice Springs with ideas that may go into their report on the well-being of Māori children.
Ikaroa Rawhiti MP Parekura Horomia says the eight MPs were looking for examples of Aboriginal programmes that might be applied in Aotearoa.
He says the MPs have been impressed with some of the sports initiatives which are leading to other opportunities for young people.
Business, women's and indigenous broadcasting initiatives were also on the agenda.
Mr Horomia says he was surprised at how many Māori are working on indigenous initiatives across the Tasman.
