Maori nurses model good health
More than 240 Maori nurses and students gathered for their annual hui at Manukau Institute of Technology are asking what it means to be a Maori nurse.
Among the items on the agenda are smoking, suicide and Maori women in leadership.
The theme of the hui is Ko Wai Au? (Who am I?)
Host Evelyn Hikuroa says the theme was chosen because of an expectation that nurses will model good practice.
Guest speakers at the hui include Dame June Mariu on Maori Women in Business, and Dame Iritana Tawhiwhirangi on the impact of kohanga reo impact on nga whanau.
