Taurua tactics take Lightning to final
Noeline Taurua is proving one of New Zealand’s most successful exports, with the Sunshine Coast Lightning, the team she crossed the Tasman to coach, making the Australian Super Netball final in its first season.
Ms Taurua says given the players were recruited on a dream of what the club could be, it’s a great achievement.
The competition is fierce, and the larger pool of players and Netball Australia’s development systems means she has a talented and motivated set of wahine to work with.
"By the time they get through one, they have to get through another system and so on and then they get to our level, pretty mentally tough. There's a clear comparison to the type of athletes that do come through plus also the resources they have over here. It's great to be over here and get a taste of the competitiveness and the professionalism," says Noeline Taurua.
In the final the Lightning will have the home game advantage against the winner of this Saturday’s semifinal clash between the Melbourne Vixens or the Sydney-based Giants.
