Digital inclusion funds delayed
The 20/20 Trust says failure to immediately restore funding for the Computers in Homes is a blow for the 100,000 school-aged children without internet access at home.
The previous National Government cut funding to the long-running scheme last June, forcing the trust to draw on its reserves and shrink its activities.
Chair Laurence Millar says restoring the fund was in the Labour/NZ First Coalition Agreement, and the trust hopes that commitment can be met in next year's Budget.
He says excluded families will be cut further adrift each year that the world moves on and they are not digitally connected.
