Unleashed Moa shines in TV awards
Māori talent shone at the New Zealand Television Awards with Anika Moa snatching the top entertainment presenter for her Anika Unleashed show and The Casketeers, a TVNZ 1 series about the day-to-day running of a funeral business, winning best original reality series and best Māori programme.
Piri's Tiki Tour of the Hokianga featuring former All Black Piri Weepu was judged best lifestyle programme.
Stacey Morrison says she was thrilled to see her Hits radio drive co-host Moa edging Sam Neill for the presenter award.
“The most amazing thing for Anika is she is able to be authentic, who she is as a Māori, as a lesbian woman, as a funny woman, crack up like we all know someone in our lives like that, and that’s really what’s working for her, so that’s what’s most exciting for me, is her authenticity,” she says.UR:
Stacey Morrison says she was also moved by the many spontaneous tribute people paid to actor Nancy Brunning, who died last week.
