The kaihautu of ASB Bank’s Te Waka Whaihua Māori business service says its new Te Mātahi lending programme for Māori entrepreneurs is sparking interest among firms in the construction sector.
Anthony Ririnui says businesses with a proven track-record looking to lift their turnover to more than $2 million within the next 12 months can borrow between $250,000 to $1 million.
The programme aims to ensure those firms have the right support around them.
“That will put our Maori busineses, our Maori entrepreneurs in good stead for making critical decisions about their business even before they get into business depending on what life cycle they are at and their bank and bankers have critical roles in terms of supporing Māori entrepreneurship,” Mr Riribnui says.
