Jammies for June is helping the children of South Auckland stay warm – and out of hospital during the winter rush.
The month-long drive by the Middlemore Foundation fronted by Dame Valerie Adams is on track to exceed its goal to provide 15,000 pajama kits to kids at Middlemore and 76 primary schools in the region.
Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau chief medical officer Andrew Connolly says it’s a campaign that addresses a real problem.
“So keeping warm, making sure we’ve got dry clothes and that that the shoes don’t leak. I know kids love jumping in puddles but if they can avoid that, that will help too,” he says.
