Golden Boot well won by Fisher-Harris
Rugby league legend Tawera Nikau says Kiwis’ captain James Fisher-Harris is a fitting winner of this year’s International Rugby League Golden Boot Award.
He’s the first prop to win the Golden Boot since its inception in 1984, and it comes in a year in which he picked up his third consecutive NRL premiership ring with Penrith as well as a Pacific Cup medal for leading the Kiwis to a record 30-0 defeat of the Kangaroos.
The Te Rarawa uri has been the most consistent prop in the NRL for the past 5 years.
“Mate he’s been absolutely outstanding. So it’s an award that’s thoroughly deserved from a boy from the Hokianga and to where he is now. I’m just so proud of him, especially as a front rower,” Nikau says
NRLW Gold Coast Titans and Kiwi Fern’s lock Georgia Hale won the female Golden Boot and France’s Jérémy Bourson won the award for wheelchair rugby league.
