Ngāti Toa property drive a winner
Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira’s general manager of property acquisition and operations, Lewis England, has won the Beca Young Achiever Award at this year’s Wellington Property People Awards.
Judges said Mr England was a driven and aspiring Māori leader and property professional who is passionate about the property profession, Māori whenua and economic development.
Ngāti Toa has been finding innovative ways to use the deferred selectin process in its historic treaty settlement, including buying the land the land of 40 public schools across the Porirua and Wellington regions for perpetual lease back to the Ministry of Education, redeveloping the site of the former Porirua police station, working with Kainga Ora to redevelop state housing in Waitangirua, and Developing a block in the Wellington hilltop suburb of Kingston with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
